Garmin Connect - Nacimiento Road loop

Camp Chopper's four days of cycling comes to an end with a 35 mile ride on Sunday. The ride heads west on Lake Nacimiento road passing such wineries as Chronic Cellars and Mondo on its way out to Justin Vineyards. From there it's back on Vineyard Drive and then the final trip down the famed Peachy Canyon Road.

Check out of the hotel at 12:00 noon. Head out for a little more tasting, lunch and the return home to show off your wicked good early season fitness.

Garmin Connect - Grand Chopper

The Saturday ride leaves the hotel at 9:00am to embark upon the Grand Chopper. The Grand Chopper initially heads east away from the coast through Creston. Home of Alex Trebec. Then the rides works it's way through Atascadero on it's way to Morro Bay. Cayucos and Cambria along the coast highway.

From Cambria the ride goes on Santa Rosa Creek Road. The road was going to be used in last years Amgen Tour of California. Organizers were forced to change the route due to road issues. Camp Chopper Director can assure all riders they will ride this epic climb. A bail out route is avalilabe on 46 east. All riders will sync up at Farmstand 46 at the corner of Vineyard and 46.

From here we head back to the hotel on 46. Camp Chopper director has the discretion of using an unpaved vineyard road in lieu of the course map at this point. Weather and spirits will dictate.

Garmin Connect - Cambria 46 west loop

On Friday the Camp Chopper rides get serious. From the warm and cozy confines of the The LaQuinta inn and suites we head towards Cambria , Cayucos and the Pacific Ocean. From Cayucos we start the long and difficult climb back towards Paso using Old River road to Highway 46. Then wind back through wine country on Vineyard and Peachy Canyon.

The Friday ride leaves the hotel at 9:00 am sharp. Forecast is calling for Belgium type weather with a slight chance of rain.

Garmin Connect - Peachy Canyon Loop

The Camp Chopper rides are now available for viewing. Each days ride will be posted over the next week. Today we feature the Thursday ride. The ride is a 35 mile loop that kicks off the camp. The route takes in the meat and potatoes of the surrounding countryside, wineries and climbs.

Join Chopper this January for a good old fashion winter cycling camp. The camp will be 4 days of consecutive riding in beautiful Paso Robles. The 4 days of riding will be around 240 miles weather permitting. The dates of the Camp are January 19 Thursday to Sunday January 22, 2012.

The La Quinta Inn and Suites will be our home base. They are offering a special rate to all campers of $98 weekday and $109 on the weekend. That's a great rate that includes a free hot breakfast daily. The rate is per room double occupancy. Camp space is limited to 25 rooms so act fast to reserve your room. Camp Details: To provide a group environment in which riders can put in winter base miles leading into cycling season. The miles are ridden at base pace and will adhere to group riding etiquette. The rides are extremely challenging. Each rider will be responsible for bike maintenance, hydration, and food on the rides. That being said Steve "the wrench" Berg is going to provide mechanical ride assistance to all campers on the road and at the hotel. A small fee to cover the mechanics expense will be requested. That fee will be no more than $10.00 per rider.

Camp Chopper is benefiting the LiveStrong foundation. Each camper will be asked to make a donation to the LiveStrong foundation in lieu of any fees.
